I swore by my old propane torch for years, but switching to a Smith Little Torch with oxygen last month for detail work was a total game changer.
My mentor in Austin finally convinced me to try it on some small goblet stems, and the pinpoint control let me get cleaner welds without overheating the whole piece.

What kind of work were you doing with the propane torch before? I tried a setup like that for a bit and found the oxygen mix made everything way too hot and fast for the thicker copper pieces I usually do.

Try a smaller tip and keep the flame further back to spread the heat more gently.

Back in my dad's garage, I was just using straight propane to sweat fittings on half-inch copper pipe. I see this all the time, people adding more power thinking it will fix everything, but it just makes the work harder to control. It's like using a sledgehammer when you really need a regular hammer, you just end up damaging the material. Have you tried going back to propane only and just being more patient with the heat up time?
