My neighbor's porch light versus a string of solar lanterns for evening chats

For years, we just used the harsh white porch light when folks came over after dark. Last month, my wife put up a string of those cheap solar lanterns from the hardware store. The light is softer, spreads out more, and doesn't attract bugs like crazy. It just feels more welcoming for a long talk. Which setup do you all think makes for a better visit spot?

Bro midnight is basically an early night for that guy. I'm pretty sure his internal clock runs on a different time zone, like maybe vampire hours or something. We once got so deep into arguing about pizza toppings that the sun came up. His neighbors must think we're running some kind of weird overnight support group.
