Just realized I was wrong about using floral foam for every arrangement

I saw a video from a florist in Portland who only uses chicken wire and moss, and her stuff lasts twice as long. I used to think foam was the only way to get a tight shape, but after trying her method on a wedding arch last month, the flowers stayed fresh for the whole 3-day event. Has anyone else made the switch and found better results with different mechanics?

Oh man, the foam is such a crutch. Switched to chicken wire and reusable frogs for almost everything now. Flowers get water way better, and you aren't sending that nasty green stuff to the landfill. Took some practice to get the structure right, but totally worth it.

Totally agree, the foam is such a waste. Chicken wire is a game changer once you get the hang of it.

Try using floral tape to hold the wire shape first, makes it way easier.
