I know everyone loves roses for Valentine's Day, but my shop had its best week ever without them.

We decided to skip the rose rush this year and focus on custom native bouquets with stuff like Oregon grape and manzanita, and our sales in Portland jumped 30% over last Valentine's. People seemed to really want something different that lasted more than three days. Has anyone else tried moving away from the traditional holiday flowers and seen good results?

My friend's shop did something similar with dried local grasses.

Oh cool, what did they make with them?

That's a great idea, and it's nice to see it worked so well. @emery_black mentioned the dried grasses too, seems like people really want something unique now.
