Overheard a customer say glue-down floors are "old school" and it got me thinking

Some woman at the supply house yesterday told her husband that glue-down LVP is outdated and they should go with click-lock because it's easier. I wanted to chime in but kept my mouth shut. I've installed over 200 glue-down jobs in the last 5 years and maybe 3 have had issues. Click-lock planks in a big open room with sun exposure? I've seen those joints separate in under 2 years. Am I wrong for thinking glue-down is still the better call for commercial or wide open spaces?

Used to think click-lock was the way to go myself until I saw a few of those floors buckle in a restaurant kitchen. Now I'm all team glue-down, especially for anything with heavy foot traffic or direct sunlight.

Glue down forever. I've glued my own foot to a subfloor and still prefer it.

Glue down is the only way to go for anything that sees real use. Safer than dealing with click-lock popping apart down the road.
