Went to a fabric swap in Brooklyn and nobody brought anything but cotton blends
I showed up to this big fabric exchange event near Prospect Park last weekend hoping to snag some cool vintage silks or maybe some wool. But it was literally 90% polyester and cotton jersey scraps from old t-shirt projects. Why are fashion folks so scared to experiment with texture and natural fibers anymore?

Have you tried asking the organizers beforehand what kind of materials people usually bring? I'm wondering if these swaps just turn into dumping grounds for scraps people don't want anymore. Seems like the whole point of a fabric swap is supposed to be quality trading, not just getting rid of trash. Were there any regulations about what could be brought in?

I mean, I've actually found some really nice pieces at swaps, so maybe it's just me but they're not all trash piles.

Wait, have you actually scored some good stuff from swaps too? I swear people sleep on them, I found this vintage floral fabric last month that still had the store tag on it. Not all swaps are junk fests, some people really do bring nice quality stuff.
