Saw this pattern hack on Instagram for $15 and it ruined my whole dress

I dropped 30 bucks on this digital pattern hack from a designer in Brooklyn. Turned out the instructions were just screenshots from a YouTube video. I ended up cutting the fabric completely wrong on my $25 a yard linen. Anyone else buy a cheap tutorial that wasted way more in materials?

Actually I think $15 is pretty reasonable for a pattern hack if you consider the work someone put into digitizing it and offering support. The real issue might be not checking the seller's reviews or previewing their tutorial style first before buying. Material waste happens no matter what you spend on a pattern when you're learning a new technique, it's just part of sewing unfortunately.

@janarivera did the seller even offer support though?

Did you try reaching out to the seller at all? Sometimes they'll help fix a messed up cut if you send them a photo of what happened. That sucks about the linen though, expensive fabric mistakes are the worst kind of learning experience.
