Showerthought: The switch from mineral oil to synthetic in our hydraulic units. We had a 20% drop in callbacks at the hospital job in Springfield over two years, but the upfront cost still stings.

Remember when I thought the switch was just a money grab? Seeing that drop in callbacks really changed my mind... it's not just about lasting longer.

That upfront cost sting is real. I spent more on the synthetic than I did on my first car, and that thing was a real piece of work.

You're right about the cost, but synthetic oil lasts way longer than regular oil. My old car needed changes every 3,000 miles. With synthetic, I can go 7,500 miles between changes. That saves money and trips to the shop over time. It's a bigger bill at once, but it pays off.
