Hit 50 different bird species in my backyard this morning

I've been keeping a simple list of birds I see at dawn for about two years now. Never really thought I'd see more than maybe 30 types around here in Ohio. But this morning a brown thrasher showed up at my feeder and pushed me to exactly 50 species. That number surprised me and now I'm looking at my yard different, like what else might show up if I just pay attention longer. Anyone else keep a running count and get surprised by a milestone like that?

50 birds is a lot for one backyard. C'mon though, are we really counting every single bird that flies through or shows up once? I've got a feeder too and I see the same house finches and cardinals day after day. Probably saw a brown thrasher last spring and just called it a robin or something. Feels like tracking this stuff too close makes you start seeing things that aren't really there just to pad the list.

Definitely lol I swear I turned a blue jay into a hawk once just to make my list look better

Respectfully disagree man, half the fun is tracking those rare fly-throughs.
