My neighbor laughed at me for using a chalk line on tile

But after I snapped a grid on my backsplash, every tile came out perfectly spaced, no weird gaps. Anyone else get crap from someone for doing something "old school" that just works better?

A TAPE MEASURE COLLECTION? Like more than one? I can barely keep track of the ONE I own, it's always disappearing into the couch cushions. My dad had a single wooden ruler that was older than me and that was plenty. What does a person even DO with multiple tape measures? Measure different things in different rooms all at once? That grandpa must have been something else, leaving a collection like that.
