My bathroom vanity drawer collapsed under a bottle of conditioner last Tuesday.

I ended up rebuilding the whole bottom panel with some 1/2 inch plywood I had left over from a shelf project, and honestly, it's way sturdier than the original particle board. Anyone have a better long-term fix for those flimsy drawer bottoms?

Honestly I used to just replace them with the same thin stuff. After a second drawer failed, I switched to that 1/2 inch plywood like you did. It's a permanent fix for sure.

Permanent fix" seems like overkill for a drawer bottom. Most of them last years with the thin stuff if you aren't throwing bricks in there. Feels like solving a problem that isn't really a problem.

My grandpa always used 1/4 inch plywood for his drawer bottoms. Said the stuff from the hardware store was just cardboard with a good paint job.
