Changed my mind about painting over wallpaper

I left a test patch for 6 months and the seams bubbled up like crazy. Anyone have a better way to deal with old wallpaper besides the full strip job?

That sinking feeling comment reminds me of when I left my car windows down overnight before a huge thunderstorm. Spent the whole next day with a damp seat, just a constant, soggy reminder of my mistake.
