A client told me my whitepaper sounded like a ransom note, fair point
They said every other sentence was 'threat actors' and 'zero trust' without explaining what either meant to their board. I rewrote it with plain language and analogies about locks and keys, and the next draft got approved in one meeting. Has anyone else gotten brutal feedback that forced them to dumb down the jargon?

That "sounded like a ransom note" line is harsh but honestly kind of perfect. I've seen the same thing happen when people write for other experts instead of the person who actually signs the check. Once you strip out the scary tech words and just say "this keeps your data safe, like a lock on a door," the whole room relaxes and actually hears you.

@blair_webb nailed it. Same thing happened to me, board loved the lock and key version.
