PSA: My laptop charger died right before a client call in Chiang Mai

That "quiet pop" is the sound of your plans for a chill work day instantly catching on fire. Running three blocks in that heat sounds like a special kind of panic I'm glad I only had to read about. I'd probably have just accepted my fate and told the client my laptop was eaten by a street dog. Did the new charger at least come with a free side of stress sweat?

My cheap wood glue finally gave out on a big box project

Oh man, that sounds so frustrating! I read a woodworking blog a while back that talked about how some glues just don't have enough solids in them to make a lasting bond, especially with softwoods like pine. They called it a "starved joint." Your chalky description totally fits. I had a similar thing happen with a cheap glue on some outdoor planters. The joints looked sealed but they just crumbled apart after one rainy season. Now I won't use anything but a waterproof glue for anything that leaves the house, even if it's just going in the garage. That extra few bucks is so worth it.

My cheap wood glue finally gave out on a big box project

Watched my friend Jake put together a HUGE media stand without checking for level ground first. The whole thing leaned like the Tower of Pisa, @harpery47, and we had to take every single shelf back out. He was so mad he almost left it that way. Honestly that week taught me to always use a level, even if the floor looks flat.

Shoutout to the guy at the supply yard who saved me from a bad batch of cedar pickets

That "sun-baked lumber" thing is a huge deal for old decks and fences. People forget the sun can dry wood out way past normal, making it brittle. It's not just about checking for cracks, the whole piece can get weak even if it looks okay. That hidden loss of strength is why so many old railings snap when you lean on them.

Serious question, has anyone else seen a big shift in what customers ask for at the counter?

Exactly, and then they go buy the overpriced wagyu somewhere else anyway.
