I switched from a cheap fleece throw to a weighted blanket and I can't believe the difference

I used to just grab whatever fleece throw was on sale at the grocery store for my evening naps on the couch. They were light and soft but I always ended up tossing and turning trying to get comfortable. A few weeks ago my sister handed me her old 15 pound weighted blanket she wasn't using anymore. I was skeptical at first because it felt like a heavy quilt but I gave it a try. The first nap I took with it I slept almost two full hours without moving once. Something about the pressure just settles me down faster than any regular blanket ever has. The only downside is it's a pain to wash compared to a simple throw. Has anyone else made this switch and found a good way to clean these things without ruining them?

Gotta agree with you @wesley_adams, I've gotten so used to piling comforters on myself that anything less feels wrong. Hotels with those thin sheets and one blanket drive me crazy, I usually end up asking for extra at the front desk. It's like my body just refuses to settle down without that weight pressing on me.

Dude I totally get it! I read somewhere that the weight thing is actually called deep pressure stimulation and it helps your body produce serotonin or whatever. That explains why I sleep like a rock under like 3 blankets even in summer. Hotels are the worst for this, I always end up using the decorative throw pillows as extra weight on my legs lol. First world problems but man it makes a difference.
