Went from a 4-hour bottom time to 8 on the same job after switching to a new dive computer

We were doing a pipeline inspection in the Gulf, same depth, same water temp, everything. My old computer was a basic model from 2015 that would lock me out after 4 hours total bottom time over two dives. Switched to a Shearwater Teric last season and the algorithm is way more forgiving. It let me plan for a full 8 hours of work over three dives without hitting mandatory deco. Has anyone else seen a big jump in productive time after upgrading their computer, or is it just me?

Man, that's a huge difference. Sounds like the old one was just way too strict.

That's a huge jump, but just a heads up. The Teric didn't change the rules, it just runs a different deco model. The old computer's algorithm was likely way more conservative, maybe even a straight-up Buhlmann. The Teric's probably running GF, which gives you more control but you gotta set those factors right.

Ever notice how everything's like that now? More options and settings, but you're the one who has to figure it all out. It's not just dive computers, it's every app and gadget.
