Spent $35 on a pour-over setup and my mornings got way slower

I mean, I thought upgrading from my old drip machine would make better coffee, and it does, but now I'm standing there for 5 minutes every morning watching water drip through. Last Tuesday I almost missed my bus because I was waiting for the last bloom to finish.

Three minutes thirty seconds is my exact pour time and I've got it memorized because I set a timer every single morning. It's funny how we pay money to make things take longer now. Same thing with my neighbor who spent $200 on a bread maker and now he's complaining that homemade bread takes all afternoon. Seems like there's this whole category of purchases that just add more steps to your day but we call it a hobby so it's fine.

lol three minutes thirty seconds is basically a ritual at that point. I just bought a pour over setup and now my morning coffee takes like 10 minutes instead of 30 seconds from my old Keurig. guess I'm paying for the privilege of being busy.

Oh you mean like how I bought a fancy French press and now I spend 7 minutes just watching coffee grounds bloom instead of pushing a button? It's wild how we willingly turn simple tasks into whole productions. My buddy spent $300 on a smoker and now he's outside at 6am on Sundays babysitting brisket like it's a newborn. He says it's about the process but I think it's just taking the long way to breakfast. At least your pour over makes a good excuse to stand in the kitchen and stare at the wall before the day starts.
