inAppreciation post: Old timer who showed me how to mix mortar by feel
You ever try learning how to sharpen a knife from a YouTube video? I did and my first attempt looked like I chewed the edge off. My buddy's grandpa showed me in five minutes by just watching my hands and saying "too much angle, dumbass." That hands-on correction stuck way better than any tutorial ever did.

inWasted $400 on a Chinese injector puller that snapped on the second job
Yeah I used to be one of those guys who thought forged was everything and heat treat was some nerdy detail nobody needed to worry about. But after watching a buddy’s Snap-on ratchet literally split in half on a seized bolt, I started paying attention. He sent it back and the replacement has been fine, but it made me realize even the expensive stuff can have bad days if the tempering was rushed or done wrong. So now I’m a lot more careful about checking reviews for heat treat issues rather than just assuming forged equals indestructible.

inBlew $500 on a whitepaper that got zero downloads
...and that's exactly what happened to me with my whitepaper on remote work security... the writer definitely just reworded some Wikipedia articles and called it a day. @black.jake is probably right, I shoulda checked their work more closely before forking over that $500. At least now I've got a fancy PDF to use as a coaster when my coffee mug sweats on the desk.

inPro tip: stop brooming your concrete when it's too wet
Grant.felix knows what's up. That grinding nightmare is exactly why I wait until the water film disappears. Bleed water is basically your enemy on fresh concrete. If you broom while it's sitting there, you're just pushing mud around instead of getting clean lines. Let it set up until it's damp but not wet and you'll have a way better finish.
