My messy sketch turned into a coffee shop connection
I was at my usual spot, trying to sketch a cup of coffee. My hand slipped, and the drawing looked more like a blob. I left the book on the table when I went to order another drink. When I came back, a woman was looking at it with a smile. She said she teaches drawing and offered a quick tip on shading. We ended up chatting for an hour. Now I have a new friend and better coffee art skills.

Calling that blob "art" is generous.

When you say calling it art is generous, I've dealt with this exact thing. Practical advice from seeing similar blobs in community centers, they work as conversation starters every time. Like janarivera said, that messy sketch sparked a real human moment, which is the goal. For example, a kid's finger painting on a fridge can make a whole family laugh and connect. The value is in what it creates between people, not how it looks. So sometimes the blob is doing the most important job.

Nice how accidents can turn into something good. @the_sam might hate on the blob, but that messy sketch did its job perfectly. It sparked a whole conversation and a new friendship, which is way better than a perfect drawing. The art was just the excuse for a real human moment. That's a win in my book.
