TIL started saying no to extra projects at work last month
My boss kept piling stuff on my plate. I was drowning in 8 tasks at once. Finally told her I could only take 3 priority items. She actually respected it. Has anyone else tried setting hard limits like this?

Used to think saying no would make me look lazy or like I couldn't handle my job. Then I got burned out bad, started messing up simple things I never used to mess up. That changed my mind real quick. Now I tell my boss exactly how many tasks I can actually do well, not just how many she wants to throw at me. Ended up getting better reviews too, go figure.

Ha, yep. I had the exact same wake up call. Got to the point where I was volunteering for everything thinking it looked good, then I'd forget half the stuff I promised and looked worse than if I'd just said no from the start. Now I pick my spots and my work actually doesn't suck.

Same here, started saying no to extra projects and suddenly my actual work got done faster.
