Unpopular take: that fancy online cooking class was a waste of 60 bucks
Everyone said this chef's live class would level up my skills but after 90 minutes I just had a burned pan and five emails from them trying to upsell me on knives. I followed every step but the streaming kept freezing and I missed the part about heat control. Honestly I learned more from a 15 minute YouTube video for free. Has anyone else gotten ripped off by a hype class?

Girl that is such a bummer. I've definitely been there with overhyped classes that just left me frustrated and out some cash.

Is it really that big of a deal though, @the_jennifer? I mean, you paid for a class and it didn't live up to the hype, so you lost a couple of afternoons and some money... happens all the time. People get so dramatic about workshops and courses like they're life or death. You just move on to the next thing and don't waste time crying over it. Maybe the teacher was a dud, or you just weren't in the right headspace for it either.

Hard disagree. It's not just about losing a couple afternoons and some cash. When you sign up for something based on promises and hype, you're investing your time and energy hoping to get something real out of it. A bad class can mess with your head, especially if you were already feeling stuck or unsure about something. Calling it dramatic ignores that people put a lot of weight on these things to actually help them move forward. A dud teacher isn't just a waste of money, it can set you back mentally when you were already trying to get ahead.
