My hiking buddy cancelled and I tried trail running instead... wow

Honestly, I was supposed to meet my friend Sarah at Blue Hills last Saturday for our usual 4 mile hike. She texted me at 6 AM saying she was sick and I was already packed and annoyed. I figured I'd go anyway but decided to jog the trail instead of walking it. Tbh I always thought running on dirt paths was just for super fit people with fancy gear. But I just went slow, walked the steep parts, and it felt completely different from hiking. The trail looked totally new at a faster pace and I covered 3 miles in like 45 minutes. Has anyone else tried switching up your usual outdoor activity after plans fell through?

Blue Hills is closer to 3.5 miles on the main loop.

Which map or app are you using to get that 3.5 miles? I've ran that loop a dozen times and my Garmin usually reads closer to 3.2, but I might be taking a different path through the woods near the creek crossing. The official trail markers are pretty beat up in that section too, so maybe I'm missing a turn.

@kim_johnson51 I've hit 3.4 on my phone before, definitely closer to that than 3.2.
