My friend's birthday party got rained out so we did a movie marathon instead

We had a whole backyard barbecue planned for my friend's birthday last Saturday in Portland. The forecast said 20% chance of rain, so we figured it was safe. Then the sky just opened up around noon and it poured for hours, totally flooding the yard. The birthday girl was super bummed, so three of us who lived close by decided to pivot fast. We ran to the store, grabbed a bunch of candy and microwave popcorn, and holed up at my place. We ended up watching three terrible 90s action movies back to back on my couch, laughing the whole time. It turned into this really cozy, silly day that was way better than standing around a soggy grill. Has anyone else had a canceled outdoor event turn into a surprisingly fun indoor hang?

Terrible 90s action movies" are the best backup plan!

Okay but what makes a 90s action movie "terrible" in the best way? Is it the bad one-liners, the shaky plots, or just the over-the-top explosions? I need to know the exact type of cheese we're talking about for this backup plan.

Honestly I've had a few rainouts that just left everyone grumpy and scattered. Your backup plan sounds like a lucky break.
