Shoutout to that moment I clamped a panel upside down
I was building a face frame for a client in Austin last Thursday, and I glued up the whole thing only to realize I had the top rail clamped to the wrong side. The glue was already setting, and I could feel my stomach drop. Instead of panicking, I grabbed a heat gun and carefully softened the glue on one joint at a time. Took me about 15 minutes to pop it apart and reposition it, but the wood didn't split or anything. After that, I used blue tape to mark all the pieces before any glue even touched them. Has anyone else had a similar near miss with tight glue ups?

Wait, you hit it with a heat gun while the glue was still setting and it didn't ruin the wood? That's wild, man. Most of us would be prying it apart and leaving a mess of splinters and regret in our wake. The blue tape trick sounds like a solid lesson learned the hard way.

Heat gun on wet glue is just asking for trouble, you got lucky this time. Blue tape trick works but only if you don't mind pulling up half the finish with it.
