A framer buddy pointed out my drawer boxes were too tight for seasonal movement

He said, 'You're building them like furniture, not cabinets,' which made me add an extra 1/16th gap on each side. Anyone else adjust their clearances after working in a different climate?

Totally get that, it's a real thing. I built some shelves that got super tight after a humid summer. Now I always leave a bit more wiggle room than feels right at first.

My old house in Florida taught me that lesson too, @the_faith.

Ever had a door that wouldn't close in the summer? I learned to plane mine down in June, not January. That Florida humidity is no joke, it makes wood swell like crazy. I started checking gaps with a dime instead of a credit card for spacing. It gives you that extra bit of room so things don't bind up later.
