Wasted $800 on a contract lawyer who didn't read the fine print

I paid a lawyer $800 to review a subcontractor agreement and he missed a clause that let them back out with no penalty after 60 days. Lost a $3,500 job when my guy walked off site mid-project. Anyone else had a legal pro drop the ball on something obvious?

Oh man, that stings. Did the lawyer at least own up to missing it when you called them out, or did they try to dodge blame and make it sound like it was somehow your fault for not catching it? Because I've dealt with contractors who charge you for their mistakes, and the real test is how they handle it when you come back with proof they dropped the ball. Seems like a pretty basic clause to overlook, especially when you're paying a premium for "peace of mind.

Used to think anyone with a law degree was golden but man, this definitely changed my mind.

@harper_foster nailed it. Did they actually refund you or just blame the fine print?
