Had to pick between a cheap online LLC service and a local lawyer for my new cafe. Went with the lawyer and it saved me $15k.

Fifteen thousand dollars is a crazy amount to save just by using a lawyer. I almost used one of those online forms for my friend's bakery last year. The zoning rules here are a mess, and it turns out the cheap service would have put her in the wrong business category. She would have gotten fined for her patio seating.

Totally get that. My buddy's food truck got held up for months over a permit thing a cheap service missed. The local guy knew exactly who to talk to at city hall.

Yeah, like what @nina_campbell said about zoning. My friend's print shop almost got shut down because a cheap service filed them as retail, not manufacturing. The lawyer caught it before they even opened the doors.
