Had to choose between a standard NDA and a more detailed one for a new supplier
I was setting up a deal with a parts supplier in Ohio and my lawyer gave me two choices. I could use a simple one page NDA or a longer one with specific rules about what info is secret. I picked the longer one because it listed exact things like our client list and pricing model. It took about a week to get it signed, but last month they tried to share our pricing with another company. Because the NDA was so clear, we sent a letter and they stopped right away. Has anyone else had a supplier push the line on a basic agreement?

Honestly, glad the detailed NDA saved you. Did your lawyer give any pushback on using the longer form or say it was overkill for a supplier? Tbh I've had vendors argue that more specific terms slow things down.

Oh, they hate when you can actually hold them to stuff.

Absolutely! I had a supplier try to slip in a "best effort" clause for delivery dates last year. We stuck to the hard dates in our contract, and when they were two weeks late, we had clear grounds to adjust the final payment. They grumbled about red tape, but it saved us from eating the cost of that delay. That specific wording is the only reason we had a leg to stand on.
