My trusty Leuchtturm1917 notebook completely fell apart on me mid-month

I've been using the same Leuchtturm1917 for like 4 months now and the spine just gave out last Tuesday. Pages started falling out in chunks while I was at a coffee shop in Brooklyn. I had to grab a cheap composition notebook from the bodega next door to salvage my weekly spreads. Has anyone else had a Leuchtturm fall apart on them like that or did I just get a dud?

Is it possible your coffee shop table was slightly damp or had condensation that slowly weakened the glue over time? I had a similar issue with a Moleskine that lasted fine for over a year until I left it on a humid patio table for a weekend. A four month lifespan seems too short for normal wear and tear to be the only factor.

Well, bodegas in Brooklyn usually call those “corner stores” if we're being technical. But honestly, for a notebook that costs $20 plus, falling apart after four months is rough. I've had a couple Leuchtturms that held up fine, but the quality's been hit or miss lately.

Twenty bucks for a notebook that falls apart in four months? That's like paying for a steak dinner and getting a gas station hot dog. My last Leuchtturm lasted through an entire cross-country road trip and a coffee spill before it finally gave up.
