Warning: don't fall for the 'buy in bulk' trap like I did

I went to Costco last month thinking I was being smart by buying a huge bag of rice and a giant thing of beans. Saved a couple bucks per pound, right? Well, I didn't realize my apartment pantry is basically a closet with a shelf. The rice bag was so big it barely fit, and after a few weeks I found bugs crawling in it. Lost about $25 worth of food and had to throw the whole thing out. Then I had to scrub my pantry with vinegar and it took two hours. Now I just buy smaller bags from the regular grocery store for a bit more per pound. Has anyone else had bulk savings backfire on them like this?

Wait, free protein in flour? That's honestly the grossest thing I've ever heard.

Oh man, I got a giant bag of flour once and moths showed up everywhere.

Did you end up keeping the flour or just toss the whole bag? I would have been so mad finding free protein in my baking supplies.
