Rant: My first time at the county fair forge demo went sideways

I was showing a kid how to draw out a simple leaf, and a goat wandered over and ate my leather apron strings. Anyone have tips for securing gear around livestock?

Tie a simple overhand knot at the end of each apron string. Had a sheep try the same thing last year and the knots stopped it.

That bit about the sheep giving up after chewing on the knot is key. It makes me wonder if the texture of the string matters too. A rougher, more fibrous material might be even harder for them to grip with their teeth compared to something smooth. Maybe that's the next level of defense if the knot alone doesn't do the trick.

Honestly, that knot trick is solid. I had a ewe that would untie my perfect bows every single time, drove me nuts. Started putting a basic overhand knot right at the very end of each string, just like you said. She'd chew on the knot but couldn't get it loose, so she just gave up after a while. Total game changer for keeping your apron on.
