Appreciation post: that weird creak on a carbon seatpost finally went away
I had a customer's bike with a noise that sounded like the bottom bracket, but it was the seatpost. I cleaned the post and tube, then used a tiny bit of carbon paste on the binder wedge itself, not just the post. The noise vanished completely. Has anyone else had to grease a specific part of a wedge binder to fix a creak?

Heard a mechanic say the wedge is the main spot for noise. Did you put paste on the bolt threads too?

It's funny how a ten dollar tube of gritty goop is the magic fix for a five thousand dollar bike. You basically just made a fancy paste sandwich for that binder wedge.
