A client in Boise asked me to fix a home haircut his wife tried with kitchen scissors.

He came into the shop last Tuesday with a real mess on the sides. She had tried to give him a fade, but it was all different lengths. I had to blend it out with my Wahl Seniors, taking it down to a number two guard to even start. It took about forty five minutes to get it looking right. How do you guys handle fixing a bad home cut without making the person feel worse about it?

That Wahl Senior is a lifesaver for blending jobs like that. I always tell people we see it all the time and it's an easy fix, which usually puts them at ease. Getting a good result without making them feel bad is half the battle.

Putting people at ease is nice, but sometimes they need to hear the truth about a bad cut. Sugarcoating it doesn't help them avoid the same stylist next time.

Oh man, I used to think those were a huge deal! Hearing it's common really does change how you handle it.
