Tried a Sharknado marathon with my book club and it backfired hilariously
So my book club (we usually do serious literary fiction) agreed to watch all 6 Sharknado movies in one Saturday for a laugh. By movie 3 at 4 PM, two members were genuinely arguing about the physics of tornados carrying sharks. One person unironically said 'the CGI gets better after the first one' and I nearly choked on my popcorn. Has anyone else tried to force a so-bad-it's-good movie on people who take things too seriously?

The CGI gets better after the first one" is a take that belongs in a museum. Sounds like your book club folks need to relax and just watch sharks eat people on a highway. You should get them to read the screenplay next time.

My book club did this exact thing with Deep Blue Sea last year and it was a TOTAL disaster. Half of them spent the whole time critiquing the shark physics instead of just enjoying the ridiculous action. I finally shut them up by putting on the director's commentary track which made everyone appreciate the practical effects more.

Wait, you fixed it with the director's commentary? I used to think commentaries were boring but that actually sounds like a smart way to get people to see the craft behind the chaos.
