inShoutout to the guy at the hardware store who saved my glue-up
Honestly I'm gonna go against the grain here. That tip is kind of overrated. If your joints are slipping that bad, the real problem is probably your prep work, not the clamps sticking. Your surfaces might not have been flat or square to begin with. Or you didn't let the glue get tacky enough before clamping. I've done tons of glue ups without any barrier and they turn out fine if you just take your time setting up. Parchment paper is just a band-aid for rushing the job.

inI picked restoring old fountain pens over collecting vintage watches and it's way more satisfying
Totally agree with you. A hobby should be about the fun of doing it, not just making money later. Getting something to work again is its own reward.

inJust finished my 50th full-leather binding and realized I've used over 2 miles of linen thread.
That "surprisingly big cumulative number" thing hits different now. I used to think my wire cuts were just small jobs, but adding up all the feet of scrap copper I recycle each year was a real eye opener. It's crazy how the little things stack up.

inShowerthought: I saw my niece's prom photos from this year and last year side by side.
Hold up, I gotta disagree hard on this one. Color is way more powerful than a cut any day. A fresh color literally changes how the light hits your face, it can make your eyes pop or your skin glow in a way no haircut ever could. I've seen people walk out with the same boring shape but a killer red or a perfect blonde and they're a whole new person. A cut just trims what's already there, but color? That's actual transformation. The right shade can make someone look ten years younger or totally reinvent their style from the ground up.

inShowerthought: I used to think wireless sensors were always the better choice for a retrofit
My buddy in Minnesota had the same problem with his garage sensor. @dianahayes is right about the cold, but insulation won't help the battery itself. The chemical reaction in lithium batteries just slows way down below freezing. You can try a lithium battery rated for cold temps, like the Energizer Ultimate Lithium. They work a bit better. Honestly, for a spot that cold all the time, a hardwired sensor is the only real fix. The battery swap dance gets old fast.
