The guy at the video store who insisted Clerks was a masterpiece

I rented Clerks back in 98 from a Blockbuster in Akron and the clerk spent 10 minutes lecturing me about how it changed cinema. It's a black and white movie about a guy who can't open the store shutters and a hockey game on a roof. Has anyone else had someone oversell a movie that's really just barely okay?

Wait, you're saying the guy who explained Dante's character arc to me for 20 minutes was wrong?

Oh man, I was that guy once. I spent a whole evening trying to convince my neighbor that "The Room" was a genius piece of acting. You know, the one where Tommy Wiseau throws a football in a tuxedo. We don't talk anymore, and I think that's for the best. So yeah, I've been the overseller, and looking back, I was just trying to sound smart about something that's not that deep.

Ha, fair point. Is it really that serious though?
