Cleared 500 flight hours on the same G1000 system without a single major fault

Just finished the annual on a Cessna 172 that's been flying our school's pattern for three years straight. The logbook showed over 500 hours on the G100NXi avionics suite since its last major check, and everything was still in spec. I was honestly surprised, given the student pilot use and the constant power cycles. Has anyone else seen a particular system hold up way better than expected under heavy training use?

That's just basic reliability for modern avionics.

Basic reliability" sounds like a pretty low bar for something flying at 500 miles an hour.

Honestly that's pretty solid for a trainer, those things get beat on. Seen plenty of G1000 setups go way past that with just regular care. Kellyjones has a point about the bar being basic, but hitting 500 trouble-free hours with students constantly flipping switches is still a good sign. The key is keeping the software updates current and making sure the battery bus is healthy, weird power spikes are what usually gets them.
