Ugh, it's absolutely a pattern. Same thing with phones having location tracking wide open by default, or apps set to auto-download updates on cellular. My tablet used to constantly nag me with game notifications until I manually killed like fifteen "recommended" settings. They're banking on most people never digging that deep, so they get the data or engagement by default. It's less about a bug and more about a design choice that benefits them, not the user.

Totally, spotting those glazed over looks before the wrist check is key. I just switch to "old timers need some love too" and suddenly we're talking shared stuff, not specs lol.
