Rant: My twist patterns are finally even (mostly).

Tell me about it, blocking helps a ton though.

TIL a stranger's salt trick for better pour-over coffee

Forget using salt at all because it's a terrible idea that can ruin your machine. You're just covering up bad coffee instead of fixing the real problem, like using better beans or cleaning your grinder. That tiny pinch is impossible to get right every time, and even a little salt builds up and gunks up your equipment. Good coffee doesn't need weird kitchen hacks to taste good, it just needs to be made properly. Throwing salt in feels like a silly trend for people who don't want to learn how to actually brew a decent cup.

Appreciation post: That basement show in Burlington made me ditch festivals for good.

That sweat means you gotta check for leaks after the show.

I used to skip studio clean-ups until a stray fragment caused a scene

Oof, that reminds me of a story from a local ceramic studio. A friend stepped on a tiny, hard bit of dried clay no one swept up. It shot across the floor like a bullet and cracked a nearly finished vase on a low shelf. The whole place went quiet. It's scary how the smallest leftover piece can wreck someone else's hard work in a second. You really learn to clean as you go after seeing something like that.

My podcast discovery method from years ago feels ancient now

Yeah, the whole blog recommendation thing. I mean, my friend Alex basically lived on these gaming blogs back then. He'd find one podcast, like a World of Warcraft show, through a sidebar link. Then he'd just listen to whatever that host mentioned liking. It was this tiny chain of maybe four shows total, all about the same stuff. He never really broke out of that bubble until iTunes added a directory.
