Appreciation post: My mountain cabin job taught me a lot about angled roof mounts
Working on that steep slope gave me some solid tips for tricky installations back in the city.

Totally, rough jobs always give you the most handy tricks.

My first 45-degree pitch job, I dropped a whole box of brackets. They slid right off into the pine needles. Took me an hour to find them all. That's where I learned to always tie off my tools before I even stand up. @shanew26 is right, the rough ones beat the best tricks into you.

Buddy of mine watched his cordless drill take the slide of shame off a second story roof. Thing bounced once on the gutter and vanished into a thick holly bush. Spent half the afternoon on his hands and knees, digging through prickers. He straps everything to his belt now, even the little stuff. Those moments where you lose gear just change how you work for good.
