Just finished a job where I counted 27 separate panes in a single residential window wall.

That number really hit me because it meant 27 individual measurements, 27 edges to polish, and 27 chances for a costly error, which is why I'm asking if anyone has a better system for managing complex multi-pane orders before the glass even gets to the shop.

I mean, that's just the job though, right? For something that big, I'd be making a full-size template on the floor with masking tape before I even touched the glass. It takes time upfront but it saves way more time fixing one wrong cut.

My last big shower door needed a whole roll of tape.

A whole roll of tape just for one door? That's honestly hard to picture. Harperg76 has the right idea with a full floor template, that's the smart way to avoid waste. I've seen some messy jobs where people just start cutting, and it never ends well. Using that much tape sounds like a sign something went wrong in the planning stage.
