Pro tip: a broken screen at a coffee shop taught me to always check the warranty first

I was at a coffee shop in Austin and my phone slipped off the table, cracking the screen pretty bad. I found out my warranty covered a free screen replacement, which saved me about $150. Do you guys actually read the warranty details before you buy a gadget?

Totally. I never used to bother, but my old tablet died right after the one year mark. I checked the fine print and it had a two year warranty for that exact part. Got a full replacement, no charge. Now I skim the warranty section before I even buy the thing.

That warranty fine print is like finding cheat codes for real life.

Yeah, reading the warranty is smart. I once bought a used laptop and the seller had already voided it by opening it up.
