My wife's hair dryer saved a tabletop finish from disaster
I was trying to fix a cloudy spot on a walnut table, a classic white ring from a wet glass. I'd tried every oil and polish in my shop with no luck. In a total Hail Mary move, I grabbed my wife's hair dryer, set it on low, and gently warmed the spot for about 30 seconds. The cloudiness just faded away as the trapped moisture evaporated. Has anyone else used heat to fix a finish problem, or did I just get super lucky?

Sounds like a lucky fix that could easily damage the finish.

What kind of damage are you picturing? Like, would it strip the coating right off?

Oh I'm picturing the kind of damage I'd do, which is always the worst case. I'd probably take the coating off and then some, taylorc40. My luck with fixes is just that bad.
