I kept a cashier's mistake and now I can't stop thinking about it

I was at the neighborhood store the other day, and the cashier gave me back an extra five bucks by accident. I mean, I remember a time when I would have corrected it without a second thought, but now I hesitated, and it's making me question how my priorities have changed over the years. Idk, maybe it's just me, but do you think we all get a little more forgiving of our own slip-ups as we age?

Does the constant grind of adult life just wear down our ethical reflexes? It feels like society rewards hustling so much that small transgressions get rationalized away.

Yeah the grind makes those small moments add up.

$5 is honestly such a weird tipping point. I let a cashier give me $10 extra once and I told myself it was just covering the time they took too long, which is junk logic but it worked. Richard nailed it with the grind part. You start seeing those little wins as balancing the scale for all the crap you put up with. It's not really about the money, it's that voice in your head getting louder at the end of a long week.
