Went to the new co-working spot downtown and the noise was unreal

I tried working from The Grid on 5th Avenue yesterday, hoping for a quiet change from my apartment. The open floor plan had at least three different video calls happening full volume within ten feet of me. I couldn't focus on writing a single client proposal. How do you guys find places to actually get work done without spending a fortune?

Man, that's rough. It reminds me of the time I tried to work from a coffee shop and a book club started arguing about the ending right next to me.

Ugh, why do they design these places like a cafeteria? I had the exact same thing happen at a spot in the arts district last week. Some guy was practically shouting into his laptop about quarterly projections while another person was having a full-on family catch-up call.

Right, why do people treat public spaces like their own office? I had a woman next to me watching a cooking video on full volume last Tuesday. It makes you want to just pack up and leave.
