I put $50 into a random stock my coworker mentioned and it doubled

It was a small biotech company, I bought it on a whim 4 months ago. I figured I'd just lose the money, but it shot up after some good news. I learned that pure luck isn't a plan, but a small gamble can pay off. Has anyone else had a tiny, random investment work out?

Funny how that works, right? It's like the universe gives you one good break to keep you playing. My cousin got a free lottery ticket with a gas station coffee and won fifty bucks. He's bought a ticket every day since and hasn't won a dime. That one lucky hit just sets you up to lose more later trying to chase it again.
