TIL that cheap fabric swatches can be a total trap
I ordered a bunch of sample squares online for a jacket idea, and the colors looked nothing like the photos. Wasted about $45 on stuff I can't use. Anyone know a good place for accurate fabric samples?

Wait, you spent forty-five bucks on squares?

That lighting trick gets me every time. My phone camera makes everything look brighter. Try asking the seller for a picture of the swatch next to a plain white piece of paper. Gives you a better idea of the true color.

Ever notice how some sellers use those super bright studio lights? I saw a video where a makeup artist said it washes out cool undertones completely. A lipstick that looks like a nice mauve on screen shows up straight up gray in person. That white paper trick is smart because it gives the camera something to balance against. Honestly, it should be a standard practice for selling anything with color online.
