Tried a new rasp on a tough quarter crack versus my old one
I was working on a draft horse with a deep quarter crack, and my usual rasp just wasn't cutting it fast enough. Switched to a new one with a different tooth pattern, and it took down the high spot in half the time without grabbing. Anyone else have a go-to tool for bad cracks?

Wish I could say the same, my last attempt at a bad crack ended with me rasping my own knuckle more than the hoof. Turns out my "go-to tool" is a band-aid and some shame. Still looking for that magic file that works on both horn and my lack of coordination.

Coleman.gray is right, it's like trying to open a can with a spoon. The right tool feels like cheating, but the wrong one just chews you up.

My old woodworking teacher always said the right tool changes the job from a fight to a fix. You see it everywhere, from a kitchen knife to a hoof rasp. People will struggle for years with a bad tool because it's what they have. That click when you finally use the right thing, it just works and you wonder why you waited.
