A trainer in Colorado told me my clinch was too far forward on a hind shoe. I moved it back an inch and the horse stopped forging.

That's the kind of simple fix that makes you feel smart and dumb at the same time. Guess the trainer knew what they were talking about after all. Good to hear it worked out.

Wait, but is it really that simple though? I mean sometimes trainers just get lucky with their advice and we act like it's some big deal. No offense to @drew_reed62, but I've seen people follow a tip that works once and then it totally fails the next time. Maybe it's just me, but I'm always a little suspicious of those "aha" moments that seem too easy.

Man, my version of that is spending an hour adjusting a stirrup leather by a single hole, convinced I've solved all my riding problems. The horse just side-eyes me like I'm an idiot, which, fair. Sometimes the simple stuff really does work.
