Question about using a dermaplane tool on clients with active acne

My mentor in Chicago told me to absolutely avoid it, but after seeing a colleague get great results with a specific technique on mild inflammatory acne, I tried it with a Feather blade and a 30-degree angle on a client last Thursday, and the exfoliation actually helped reduce the appearance without causing trauma. Has anyone else had success with this, or is it still considered too risky?

I used to agree with Harper, but after seeing how careful technique can make it work, I'm starting to change my mind. That client's skin really calmed down after.

Honestly, that sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. One good result doesn't mean it's safe. You're dragging a blade over broken skin and spreading bacteria all over the face. Tbh, even with a clean blade, you're just opening up every little pimple and creating micro cuts. I saw a client come in with a terrible infection from another place that tried this. It's just not worth the risk for a bit of exfoliation.

Proper technique makes it safe and effective.
